A Day of Projects-Started...not finished

I woke up this morning in such a great mood.  The sun was coming up over the river and the trees in the back yard were glowing.  Beautiful!  So I grabbed Ben and we went for a walk...all bundled up of course.  It was only 30 degrees or so.  Tess was busy with a friend who slept over so, after Steve left for golfing, Ben and I went downstairs to work on projects.  Ben was doing arts and crafts and I started painting our modular shelving that will one day hold the TV in the living room (pictures to come later).

Then I decided to get started on my 60's Viko Baumritter chair that I purchased on Ebay for $30!  I am hoping to get to SR Harris this weekend to pick out fabric.  Here is the before picture of the chair.  It has a rip in the vinyl seat and the metal legs need some major attention.

It is now in pieces.  I will use the old vinyl to make a pattern for the new fabric, will spray paint the legs a nice soft white color and I have already sanded the wood arm rests so they can be stained a nice espresso color.  I can't wait to tackle this.

My biggest concern is picking the right fabric and creating the piping for the cover.  It has been a long time since I have sewn anything, especially piping for an upholstery project!  Wish me luck!

Big Plans for the Weekend!

So sorry it had been a while since I blogged.  Too much to do and so little time.  I promise to try and get some more pictures of the house posted this weekend.
Some of my best friends are joining me this weekend for scrapbooking and although I am not ready to say with certainty that "I am done with scrapping", I am more excited to organize photos, back them up and work on some home projects.
Here is what I am hoping to get started this weekend:

1) Book Page Pumpkin from Creations by Kara

2) Framed Branches- by Cleverly Inspired-
I have the perfect frame for this and Steve will be so glad to have it out of the garage!!!

3) Spring Scrapbook Paper Tree- By Two Girls Being Crafty

Getting There

The work continues on the house as Steve and I finalize tile, lights, mirrors, paint colors etc.  The have put up the knock down ceiling and have the interior doors in.  This week the trim goes up, the cabinets go in and they will paint the walls.  Now is the time that I get soooo excited to see it come together.  Hoping and praying that our choices look good together.
Here are some pics...

I picked a wallpaper for just one wall in the powder room.  So Mom and I will need to put that up sometime next month.  The paper is a light teal with a silver branch pattern.  Hard to see in the image below but I think it will look gorgeous with the chrome facet and round mirror I bought.  Check it out:
More to come.  We will take lots more pics this weekend.

Possibilities with an Old Door

Dilema: we are going to need a table or dresser of some sort in our great room once we move in.  The main purpose of this table or dresser will be to house the TV.  So I have been thinking of possibilities...one of the ideas I keep coming back to is finding an old door and adding modern legs like this image below from home sweet home made.

Another great idea for a old door is to use it as a chalk board and then just lean it against a wall like this one I found on ReNOUNed Nest.  Love it!  What do you think?  Leave a comment :)

When I win the lottery!

Don't get me wrong...the home we are building is my dream home...
But, if I won the lottery I would love a home just like this one:

Starting to Look Like A House!

First of all...Steve and I are EXHAUSTED!  We have been working really hard to get the house ready for the market.  We filled an entire POD full of items we don't need on a daily basis: Christmas stuff, scrapbooking stuff, some of the kids toys, clothes that I can't seem to fit into :(
We have also worked with our agent's stager to make sure that we are an appealing home for buyers.
We will be listed on the market tomorrow.  We are hoping for a quick sale so life can return to some sort of normalcy.

We have also been meeting with various contractors for the house...picking out the facets, tubs, toilets...picking how many outlets we need and where, identifying where multimedia jacks should be placed...whatever that is :)

In between all of that, we stopped by the house and were shocked at how far along they are.  The day we stopped by the windows were going in.  We are so pumped by the beautiful views we will have.  Can't wait to have friends over to enjoy it as well.  So glad we decided to go ahead with the screen porch.
Here are the latest pictures.

Check out the Progress!

Today Steve went out to the house to make sure everything looked good.  Check out the pictures he took, below!  It is amazing how quickly they are moving.  The last three pictures show:
1) Looking toward the front door
2) The basement
3) Looking from the Kitchen/Dining into the great room
We are so excited!

Accent Wall

I saw this blog about Accent Walls on Apartment Therapy and I love this idea for our living room.  We will have a section of our great room wall that stands out from the rest and has the fireplace on it.  I would love to do an accent wall on the part that remains in the back (hard to expain).

Steve is not so sure.  Especially if we use wallpaper.  What do you think?  Accent wall or not?  Add your 2 cents in the comments!  It is a small enough space that I could easily see ripping wall paper down if we hated it after 5+ years.

Here is the inspiration:
