Down Come the Trees
We closed on the construction loan on Friday(2/25) and already, bright and early on a Monday morning, the tree guy, Steve and Bob our builder (not the cartoon) were on the lot marking and cutting down the trees that needed to go. It is hard to lose so many trees but the lot we purchased is heavily wooded so even with the trees we lost we will still have a beautiful wooded lot. Here are the before and after pictures Steve took this morning:

They took down quite a few more trees than shown here. Steve had to get back home so these are the only pictures we have. They will dig the basement tomorrow and maybe even pour the basement walls by the end of the week.
More to come...

Decisions...decisions!
Steve and I have been busy making decisions on the details for our new home. I have to say that I am impressed how similar our tastes have become. They say...after a while you start to look alike, sound alike...so maybe you also design alike!
Doors:
Since the front of the home only has one window in the office we were concerned with the lack of light so we decided to get a full lite door:
I love this door and think it will look great! It also has a warm, modern feel. I do realize that it is probably not as energy efficient and that I will be CONSTANTLY cleaning the glass. But I love it. I think some modern house numbers would also look great with this look... FUN!
